Psalm 11 “Destroyed Foundations”

“Truth  for Truckers” *February 11, 2014* Psalm 11 “Destroyed Foundations”

“IF the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (v.3). After the first two verses show intense persecution, the above statement by David underlines the importance of the foundations, the structures of authority, the moorings of the society. This is where the attack of the devil has been focused from the beginning of time when his temptation caused Eve to disobey God and go on her own way, and Adam followed.

The very first Authority Structure was man staying under the authority of God. The second is the woman staying under the authority of man. But, the roles of husband and wife have been scrambled in the last fifty years through the devil’s efforts to destroy the foundations of the family which is the primary building block of our culture. There has definitely been a “War on Women” but, it is focused on Motherhood and the position of authority in the family. Who is in charge? Who is making the decisions affecting the family?

In this Psalm persecution from the wicked appears in (v.2), and in (v.1) David who is King of Israel is being told to “Flee as a bird to your mountain”(v.1) in an attempt to remove him from his position of authority in Jerusalem. This attack involves civil government, but we are way past that in the USA. The civil government has rejected the God of the Lord Jesus Christ, the God of the Bible upon which this country was founded. The Bible was removed from public schools fifty years ago, and prayer also was eliminated.

Once the devil took over the civil government, the schools, and in many cases the churches, his full focus has been upon the family. Removing Mom from the home is a major key in his program of eliminating a Godly seed coming from Christian families/homes. But, there is hope. And, David points directly to our source of hope.
“The LORD is in His holy temple, The LORD’s throne is in heaven” (v.4). This is where all authority resides, and it is where our focus must be fixed. God is in charge, regardless of the situation in which we find our culture.

He then shows in (v.4b-6) that God will take care of the outcome. He tries the righteous, and upon the wicked He will bring judgment in the end. However, it is for us to evaluate exactly what we can do to keep the “foundations” we are in charge of and can influence under Biblical principles. Witnessing to the lost and keeping order in our homes/families are two things we can do and must do. But, there is one more thing, PRAY FOR REVIVAL!! If the Lord sends revival, if the Lord turns the hearts of His people, this nation may be turned!
